Travel documents for travelling in France

Visa

US, Canadian and Australian citizens only need a valid passport to travel to France for tourism purposes: no VISA is needed.

For other countries, please visit the official visa website for France.

Passport expiration date

Please make sure that your passport's expiration date complies with the laws of your country of origin and France.

Note that for most countries, the expiration date on your passport must exceed your return travel date by at least three months (six months is recommended). Of course, your passport must have at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Check your passport for these two things as soon as possible to allow for plenty of time for renewal, if needed.

Upon arrival, you may also be asked to provide an onward or return ticket, as proof that you will indeed be leaving the country.

Travel Tip: Before traveling, email copies of your passport and driver’s license to yourself or a loved one. This can prove to be very helpful if, for some reason, you lose the original document during your stay.

These regulations are not prone to frequent changes. Nevertheless, Totem Moto Tours advises you to check the most recent updates on your country of origin’s foreign services and travel website before traveling.

Driver's license

US, Canadian and Australian drivers’ licenses are valid in France. It is not mandatory to carry an international driver’s license for US, Canadian and Australian nationals.

Please note that Totem Moto Tours requests a valid driver’s license for every driver for the duration of the trip and at least 2-years’ driving experience.

Travel Tip: Don’t forget to check the expiration date on your driver’s license. It needs to be valid throughout the entire trip.
